About the session

As Britain seeks to decarbonise energy, provide security of supply  whilst driving down bills, new and innovative solutions and approaches are required. In this time of unprecedented change, this series of seminars will explore new technology, commercial and operating arrangements and changes to the regulatory system. The seminars will examine the implications, opportunities and challenges presented by storage, decarbonisation of heat, the future of the gas network and flexible integrated smart infrastructure and how these will contribute to the transformation of networks.

This seminar will explore a systems approach an dpotential solutions to the transformative changes required in Britain's energy system.

    Keith MacLean

    Providence Policy, Managing Director

    Keith is a Chemistry graduate and postgraduate from Heriot-Watt and Hamburg Universities, and an Honorary Fellow of Energy Policy at the University of Exeter. He has worked in a broad range of roles in the energy industry, including 20 years at energy utility SSE where he was Policy and Research Director.Keith has acted as an advisor on energy policy to both the UK and Scottish Governments and has been involved in many industry advisory and working groups. He is Chair of UKERCs Advisory Board and has just finished four years as Co-chair of the Energy Research Partnership. From January 2017, he has been appointed by the UK Research Councils to be Chair of their Scientific Advisory Committee. Keith is founding director of Providence Policy where he works as an independent energy advisor. He was awarded an OBE for services to the energy industry in the 2017 New Year Honours list.
