Mobile networks towards 5G impose increasingly stringent requirement on high throughput and low latency due to emerging time-sensitive applications. Ethernet-based mobile fronthaul is low-cost and flexible but lacking in determinism. We review and discuss the options for time-sensitive networking based on Ethernet.
