This talk delves into the journey of instruction reordering as a key underlying technique to enable optimizations that span from enhancing memory level parallelism to bolstering security and enabling instruction fusion. These optimizations exploit the symbiotic relationship between the compiler and the underlying architecture, which is crucial for achieving higher performance, improved energy efficiency, and increased resilience to speculative side-channel attacks.
