About the session

Utility companies are only as good as the people who work for them, so recruiting and retaining the right staff is imperative.  208,000 new employees will be required in the UK utilities sector within ten years. Fifty per cent of current employees will have retired by 2023. A chronic skills shortage is looming.

Energy & Utility Skills, Head of Quality

I have worked within energy and utility sector for the last six and a half years, developing and assuring learning and assessment provision for a range of competencies across the gas, power, telecommunication, and waste and water industries. Responsibilities have included the development of industry wide Health and Safety provision, the development of EUSR, a robust platform for the management of skills, training and competence, through to my current role of facilitating, standardising competence and the benchmarking of learning and assessment interventions. My current focus is pointed toward helping organisations across our footprint embrace and align with the industry vision for high quality, responsive and flexible training and assessment which aspires towards best practice.
