About the session
Virgin Media's DTV platforms have been in successful operation for over 10 years. However, the fault rate and end of life issues of these platforms have increased over time. In addition, service quality and availability risks associated with the operation of these platforms have increased. With the loss of revenue due to DTV fraud and limited capacity to accommodate future product growth, Virgin Media has undertaken a replacement programme of these DTV platforms. A large part of this programme involves the commissioning of an MPEG over IP platform to replace all parts of the broadcast transmission path - the project is called Next Generation TV (NGTV). This presentation describes the project.
