We now live in a non-linear and chaotic (in the mathematical sense) world where everyone and everything is connected by networks. Problems of unexpected and uncontrolled waves (tsunamis) of all forms of information cause bottlenecks in networks and society. Our classical mathematics and algorithmic approaches can no longer address the scale of these problems. At the same time, the exponential rate of knowledge creation means we all know relatively less year on year as a result. The only solution for the human species is a symbiotic relationship with our machines.
