Abstract
This event will review the state of the art and future trends in Graphene research, with a particular focus on production techniques, material characterization and the latest applications in RF devices. Graphene is considered a promising material which may revolutionize the world of RF, electronics and communications. There is large consensus within the academic and industrial world that Graphene will enable the development and manufacturing of groundbreaking RF technologies. In particular Graphene is envisaged as the best candidate to fully exploit the potential of millimeter-wave and terahertz frequencies communications. Graphene has unique characteristics, its inherent two-dimensional nature means that high-quality Graphene is the thinnest stable material, yet it is stretchable and optically transparent. It can be an excellent conductor of electricity and heat, and exhibits extremely interesting properties such as ballistic charge transport and bipolar transistor effect. The use of Graphene is being proposed in various fields, from supercapacitors to nano-antennas, however, much work remains to be done before Graphene can be used in commercial RF components, including its large scale manufacturing and characterization.
