    Scottish Enterprise, Senior Energy Executive

    Neil is engaged in the development of the Scottish Marine Energy, Heating & Cooling and Hydrogen/Fuel Cells sub-sectors within the Scottish Enterprise (SE) Energy & LCT team. His role involves the implementation of SE’s strategic approaches to these sub-sectors, as part of SE’s overall approach towards the development of the renewable energy industry in Scotland. Neil was responsible for the development of the national WATERS programme aimed at supporting full scale wave and tidal energy device proving in Scotland and has worked in the wave and tidal energy area for the last 6 years.Before he joined the Energy & LCT team in 2008, Neil’s work within SE mainly focussed on facilitating strategy development. He has worked with the Forestry and Tourism industry teams as well as on projects relating to ‘competitive place’ and e-business development. Neil has also been involved in the development of the SE Rural Group’s policy and practice.Having originally graduated as a chemical engineer, Neil has performed a wide range of roles including managing a consultancy practice dealing with partnership development, running a developmental programme aimed at creating new types of jobs and designing a new type of fuel oil using coal and water!
