Abstract
It has been estimated that up to 5,000 children a year are killed or seriously injured in road accidents. When schools are situated close to roads there is particular danger to children crossing them. Those most at risk are typically in the age range 10 to 12 years old.
This video is part of the IET Faraday's teaching resources developed in December 2015 as part of the BBC micro:bit programme and explores how proper pedestrian control systems close to schools can help students to cross the road more safely, preventing many accidents.
