Steve Davies, a lighting expert, discusses the various types of testing that is carried out on LED lighting prior to it being certified. Steve explains that LED luminaires undergo photometry testing which ensures the luminaires are fit for purpose and deliver the stated light and efficiency levels, they undergo electrical and mechanical safety testing in a lab environment so that ratings are correct and that there is no danger of electrical shock, specialist testing on emergency products and compatibility testing of control gear.
