This presentation describes the IT challenges of joining up the case management systems of the Magistrates' and Crown Courts, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Police, Prisons and Probation Service. Back in 2002, the Criminal Justice System was suffering from inadequate or non-existent systems and there was a significant gap between where it needed to be and where it was. Many courts buildings were without power supplies, lighting or Health and Safety compliant desks; even plugging in a desktop computer was a difficult task. The speaker outlines the progress which was made by the Criminal Justice IT Programme and the lessons which were learned.
