John Wood

John read engineering at Cambridge and spent the early part of his career in the Army. He worked with mechanised forces as a member of REME and was involved in the development and trials of new tracked vehicles. He left the Army in 1987 to take up the post of Technical Director and Chief Engineer at RAC. He joined MIRA as Managing Director in 1991 and remained in this role until his retirement in 2008.He has been Chairman of Automobile Division of IMechE and was President in 2010/11. He served for a number of years as the Chairman of the Formula Student Organising Committee and is active in other motor industry related bodies.
