Abstract
Designing a strategy to apply the right radiation dosage to the tumour cells without affecting healthy cells is pertinent to successful oncological treatments. This is difficult to achieve if the target moves due to involuntary motion. The innovation here was not only the use of software to predict the target position, but also to create an extensible framework to integrate new, improved methods for targeting the radiation dosage. Thereby, allowing the designed treatment to be carried out reliably. The IET Innovation Awards celebrate the products, technologies and processes that lead the way in engineering innovation. Spanning 15 categories, the Awards are judged by engineering experts and recognise the depth and breadth of innovative work being carried out across all areas of engineering and technology.
