Abstract
Asset intensive industries strive to understand their asset base well including its condition and capability to deliver the required performance. The LineScout system shows the ability to acquire key asset condition information with minimal impact on service provision and with improved safety for the inspection teams. The system has been shown to find issues with overhead lines earlier than using other methods, allowing timely decisions on interventions to be made. With the added ability to carry out repairs, LineScout is making a significant contribution to the delivery of sustainable system performance and the reduction of risk.The IET Innovation Awards celebrate the products, technologies and processes that lead the way in engineering innovation.
