Panel Discussion
  • Duration: 1 hr 35 mins
  • Publication date: 11 Oct 2024

Abstract

Each year, the IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) show drives thought leadership, innovation, best practice and diversity across the 250,000-strong global IBC community. Owned by industry organisations IABM, IEEE BTS, IET, Royal Television Society (RTS), SCTE and SMPTE, the event offers a full schedule of groundbreaking presentations, panel sessions, workshops, product demos and technology masterclasses. It brings together tens of thousands from across the worldwide media content and technology community to learn, collaborate and network.

For those who weren't able to attend, this panel discussion, co-hosted with the RTS (Royal Television Society) and the IET Media Technical Network, is the next best thing. Our esteemed panel went to IBC so you didn’t have to, or at least you did not have to visit every one of the stands, events, and presentations across 20K steps per day, all the conference rooms, theatres and 14 halls.

Can we answer the big questions?

•        Was the industry back to being fighting fit

•        Is there gold still in those pixels and frames

•        Is the technology revolutionary or evolutionary

•        Cameras lighter / better / smaller

•        Cloud editing ready for prime time

•        Broadcasting still mainstream or has streaming taken over

•        Does the hype of AI pass muster with real products?
