Abstract
IET's Managing Editor, IET Electronics Letters, talks to David Wood, Deputy Director, EBU Technical, at IBC 2011, Amsterdam. David Wood is Deputy Director, EBU Technical, at the EBU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The EBU is the collective organization of Europe's 74 national broadcasters. The EBU also has 54 Associate Members, who are national broadcasters from other parts of the world. The EBU coordinates technical studies and policy for EBU Members. David is also Chair of the ITU-R Working Party 6C, which has produced many standards and recommendations for digital television and HDTV. He also chairs the European High Definition Forum, and is a fellow of the SMPTE. He was educated at Southampton University in the UK, Harvard Business School in the United States, and the Popov Institute in the Ukraine. He worked formerly for the BBC and IBA in the UK before joining the EBU.
