University of Sheffield, Vice-Chancellor
Professor Bob Boucher has been Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield since 2001. He was previously Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), a post he held from 1995 to 2000. Prior to his appointment at UMIST, he was Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Sheffield. He is a member of the Board of Universities UK, which represents the interests of all universities in the UK. On the international stage, Professor Boucher is chairman of the International Sector Group of Universities UK and a member of the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. He is a former chairman of the British Council Committee for International Co-operation in Higher Education and he also served on the Board of the British Council.
