Climate Change, traffic congestion and soaring petrol prices and how to combat them were debated at The Great Transport Debate on 8 March 2007 at Reading University. Three of the world's leading engineering groups, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers(IMechE), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) joined forces to host the debate at the Palmer Building at the University. The panel included leading figures from Network Rail, Transport 2000 and the Highways Agency. This presentation discusses freight, highlighting some of the trends from the past and thinking about what can be improved in the future and how to bring about those improvements.
