About the session

This presentation discusses how demand response appliances (smart appliances) help consumers significantly decrease power usage during peak demand periods, help the utilities reduce the need for increased power generation, and ultimately help consumers save money on their energy bills.

    General Electric Appliances and Lighting, Home Energy Management, Market Development Manager

    John Desmarais is the Market Development Manager in the newly formed Home Energy Management business, part of GE Appliances and Lighting. Mr. Desmarais started his career with GE on the Financial Management Program and held positions of increasing responsibilities including Competitive strategic planning and analysis, product marketing specialist for Range, Consumer Service, and Home Depot National account manager. John lead the commercial rollout of the appliances home delivery program for Home Depot within the US and Canada, earning GE Vendor of the Year recognition for this historic partnership. John has also served in Executive business development leadership roles within the Service Management and Healthcare industries, serving such customers as Philips, Samsung, Dell, Sony, and Lennox Industries. John received his B.S. in Finance, as well as his MBA in Marketing from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. John and his wife Tracy have two children, Jack age 14 and Natalie age 12 and currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky.
