This keynote presentation discusses the engineering challenges that were overcome during the 5-year Olympic Park project, in order to meet stringent cost, time and quality requirements for the London 2012 Olympic Games. To realise the vision of the Olympic Park required the expertise of many engineering disciplines, from civil and structural to electronic, electrical and mechanical. The challenges faced varied from ensuring the structural integrity of the Olympic venues to replacing electricity pylons with 200 km of cabling in two 6 km tunnels.
