About the session

This presentation gives Samworth Brothers' view of the design and installation of an extensive state-of-the-art automation line in a food manufacturing factory, including aspects of overall strategic planning, engineering and hygienic system design. Staff training and staff motivation are highlighted as vital issues in achieving a paradigm shift to advanced manufacturing procedures within the industry. Furthermore, the successful outcomes are noted as indicators of what can be achieved by a carefully planned uptake of appropriate modern technology in what is currently the UK's largest manufacturing sector.
