    Dr Phil Moffitt

    Lecturer in Technology-Enhanced learning, Teaching

Research Overview - Phil Moffitt works in the Department of Educational Research, Lancaster University. He specialises in interventionist research of education. Phil is a chartered engineer, facilities manager, and UX ergonomist with research interests in socio-technical, socio-cultural, and cultural-historical activity theory, enabling people to collectively and expansively confront sub-optimal work and learning for themselves.Profile - Phil is currently researching the mediating role of technologies for social development, organisational change, and vocational practice in TVET, FE, and HE for STEM practitioners involved in post-conflict reconstruction and disaster relief, where the requirement and opportunity for epistemic development is often only identified at the time and place of need. His projects are being undertaken through phenomenographic and activity theoretical approaches (the latter using the Change Laboratory methodology), often with dispersed teams in geographically distal settings. He undertakes voluntary activities as a coach and mentor with those who are disengaged from STEM education.PhD Supervision Interests - I am interested in PhD supervision with researchers examining technology enhanced learning, notably where technologies mediate learning in practice settings for STEM fields. I specialise in phenomenographic and activity theoretical research in FE, HE, VET, workplace, and informal learning.
