DoD Systems and Software Engineering: Taking it to the Next Level

The US DoD is fostering a capabilities driven approach. This has focused on increased up front planning and analysis based on the integration of requirements, acquisition and programme processes, all undertaken within a capabilities, or system, context. This presentation describes how a strong technical foundation is critical to this approach, and discusses the implications of applying systems engineering to analysis, solution refinement, investment balancing, systems of systems and portfolio management.
