Abstract
In this presentation, the speaker addresses the challenges and opportunities of medical device development in an academic research environment. Recent cutting-edge innovations are explored as he describes his research in image-guided robotics, including the creation of new robot technology, concentric tube robots and robotic application to beating-heart intracardiac surgery. The speaker also describes a new research direction to create small tetherless robots that are powered, imaged and controlled by an MRI scanner.
