About the session
Cable technologies and recent developments Programme and supply chain Installation techniques and issues Cable testing pre and post lay Discover the latest technology, design and maintenance of offshore wind turbines and farms to optimise transmission and safeguard performance for increased capacity input. Offshore wind as a renewable energy source is recognised as an important resource for our infrastructure and investment into the substantial deployment of this green energy is increasing. With this investment into offshore wind energy and turbine farms Round 1 and 2 projects largely under construction and the much larger Round 3 projects now in a planning phase, the question still remains on how we best optimise transmission and operation on these developed offshore sites for this crucial renewable energy resource The London Array project put the UK into a leading position for wind energy in 2013 and has increased our capacity in the supply chain and from this we know there are key areas that need to be addressed in order for us to maintain a high level of power generation and quality and make best use of our network. This IET seminar, in collaboration with RenewableUK will examine the key technical componenst in operation and management, technology requirements and risk management and mitigation in offshore wind technology and transmission.
