This presentation discusses offshore wind as the biggest single driver for development of many tens (perhaps hundreds) of GWh of energy storage in the UK. The offshore context offers three key resources that are relevant to energy storage: low-cost space, hydrostatic pressure and a perfect thermal sink/source. Compressed air energy storage can be configured to exploit these resources - and can be integrated neatly into the energy collection system
