About the session

Over the past 15 years, the broadcast industry has gone through breathtaking change caused, largely, by the rapid introduction of new technology. In this talk, the speaker concentrates on the changes in wireless technology by focusing on the impact of the introduction of digital terrestrial television (Freeview). He discusses how the technology was developed and introduced.He discusses the standardisation of DVB-T, equipment prototyping, lab tests, field trials, consumer chip development, service launch and digital switchover. He also talks about some of the exciting new technologies for the future, such as MIMO-based transmission, HDTV and IPTV.
