Presents recent developments in wire line DSL spectrum management in the UK, which will shortly be reflected in changes to Ofcom's Access Network Frequency Plan (ANFP) for BT's unbundled UK metallic access network. Launched power from DSL systems operated by BT and LLUOs in the UK is controlled by requirements set out in the ANFP. Currently there are two ANFPs for BT's UK network; one for the full loop (from Exchange to Customer) and one for the sub loop (from street Cabinet to the Customer). This presentation reviews the need for wire line spectrum regulation and overviews the significant developments that were made in January 2005 that set the scene for new wire line DSL regulation in the UK. The changes to the way DSL signals are controlled will underpin BT's ability to deliver the 21CN access vision whilst allowing BT and LLUOs to use a more advanced form of ADSL called ADSL2+, which will deliver up to 18 Mbit/s on short to medium length exchange lines.
