About the session

The ability of utilities to access customer data and optimise data within their own organisations will define the winners and losers in tomorrow’s market. But the challenge of gaining customer approval for capturing and using their data has just become more complicated. The introduction of GDPR has tightened controls on the way in which data can be gathered, how it can be applied and who it can be shared with. The penalties for non-compliance is high, and beyond regulation, growing cyber-crime means utilities with ambitions to develop data-centric business models supported by fleets of interconnected devices are broadening their attack surface and changing their risk profile.

What could a customer data-centric utility market look like? How can this vision be achieved under the constraints of GDPR and how can businesses and customers be protected for the risks that come with data-driven opportunities?
