Ashton Hayes Rural Smart Grid

ScottishPower are currently undertaking a smart grid trial alongside the community of Ashton Hayes. The project has the duel aim of assisting Ashton Hayes to achieve carbon neutrality and of informing UK distribution network operators (DNOs) of the benefits of introducing smart grid technology. Details of the preliminary results obtained from the Ashton Hayes electrical network are given, and these demonstrate the impact that several "gone green" scenarios may have on the network and the role that smart technology may have to play in these scenarios.
