  • Part of event IET Seminar on Smart Metering - Engineering the Smart World, the Road to 2020

About the session

In the UK (and Europe), smart metering systems are being defined and rolled out. We must use this opportunity to specify the architecture and interfaces which will ensure that smart meters enable the intelligence and automation that home owners will adopt to save energy and reduce their carbon emissions. This presentation addresses the following questions: why must smart meters define their communication with the smart home? What are the candidate system architectures? What technologies and standards fit best? How should we address security, privacy and system ownership and control? How should we move forward?
