  • Duration: 31 mins
  • Publication date: 07 Mar 2019
  • Location: NA, IET Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom
  • Part of event Antennas & Propagation for 5G and Beyond

About the session

Next generation wireless communication technologies place new demands on antennas and propagation channel models due to the their planned use of multiple wave bands ranging from the 600MHz UHF band to the mm-wave 60 GHz V-band, the proposed deployment of ultra-dense wireless networks and dynamic spectrum sharing.

The availability of cheap computational power in consumer devices is enabling new approaches for exploiting challenging propagation channels and the implementation of novel antenna solutions.

This colloquium will highlight current developments and studies and provide a forum for discussion as to how some of the 5G antennas and propagation challenges may be met in the coming years.

The topics to be covered by the colloquium will include propagation models, channel enhancement techniques, MIMO, phased-array and multi-beam antenna technologies, antenna characterisation, mmWave antennas for mobile terminals, spectrum sharing issues, etc.
