Abstract
This #EngShort by the IET looks at making your #holidayseason more #sustainable. As we get into the festive spirit, we must consider our #carbonfootprint. In the UK, the average household spends £50 more on gas and electricity in December. To lower your bills and power your holidays on #renewableenergy use #energysavinglights and switch to a #greentariff. Did you know that around 3 million tonnes of #plasticpackaging are used for gifts? Perhaps this year you can look for #recycled or #upcycledgifts. 270,000 tons of #foodwaste is generated just during the holidays so try to cut your food waste by planning meals and consider having #vegetariandays. How are you making this holiday season more environmentally friendly?
