About the session

Envisaged as one of the biggest challenges and opportunities of the future of aerospace the inaugural “All Electric Aircraft Technology” IET Symposium in January 2016 to be held at the prestigious Savoy Place London will bring together experts from across academia and industry to discuss, debate and analyse the key enabling technologies that will be required to support and drive forward the commercial viability of More Electric Airplane with the aim of ultimately achieving an All Electric Aircraft for both military and commercial passenger/freight use.

The one-day event will bring together the experts of today with those of tomorrow to cover all aspects of aerospace activity, from commercial aviation to military applications. The All Electric Aircraft Technical Symposium will highlight the challenges we face today and those envisaged for the future as part of the ever-increasing research into the increased electrification of aircraft and the possibilities and challenges that this brings.

Leading experts from around the world are invited to present their views and their current findings from research, development, design and manufacturing. This promises to be a unique, pioneering opportunity to exchange ideas and network within this aviation engineering community.

There is a great deal to discuss, fuelled by the increasing pressure to reduce the current dependency on natural resources, and satisfy the airlines demands for ever more fuel-efficient aircraft to save costs. Furthermore, electric aircraft could achieve near-silent commercial and military aviation operations, increasing passenger comfort or stealth-like capability. Quieter aircraft can also operate over more territories, more of the time, leading to more air slots and less resistance to additional runways or night-time flights. Every major aircraft manufacturer has now recognized the need to advance the research and investment into developing “all electric aircraft” technologies in order to address challenges and realise opportunities.

With such diverse and topical subject matter, the All Electric Aircraft Technology Symposium is a must attend event for those looking to discover the present and future of all electric aircraft.
