Broadband frequency converters are employed in electronic warfare (EW) systems. This presentation describes the design and measured performance of a single conversion 2 to 4 GHz frequency converter built with COTS RF components and realised on a 3U (100×160 mm) printed circuit board (PCB). The frequency converter performs up-conversion (DC- 400 MHz to 2-4 GHz) and down-conversion (2-4 GHz to DC- 400 MHz) with an integrated local oscillator (LO) that has been realised using a direct digital synthesis (DDS) based synthesiser.
