The final lecture on Sir William Siemens delivered by Katherine Platt, a postgraduate student completing a Ph.D on â€œSiemens in the North of Englandâ€. Born Karl Wilhelm Siemens, he moved to Britain in 1843 and started the UK Siemens company, which has been at the forefront of technological development in the country since. The company has continued to be successful in many areas of engineering; this lecture will focus on Sir Williamsâ€™ influence in the field of Power Engineering.
