About the presentation

Asset knowledge is asset power - driving strategic advantage

This year's conference will focus on the core issues of data, information and knowledge management, exploring how to obtain value and 'get the quality right', before looking at how this knowledge impacts and influences the asset management and business strategies.

A key theme will be to ensure you're equipped to make incisive decisions to ensure your business is running both efficiently and effectively.

Held at Savoy Place, the London home of the IET.

Session 1: People and data

Most organisations have many data sets which are core to their effective operation. Backup procedures ensure that the overall data set cannot be lost; however, the actions of users can introduce data errors which slowly degrade the quality of data, possibly to the point where it is no longer fit for purpose.

This presentation focuses on the role of data in business decision making, comparing the differing approaches in acceptable behaviour towards data, compared with physical activities, and finally uses the concept of the Data Zoo to explore some generic user behaviours towards data.
