BSI-PAS 55 The Benefits for Utilities - A Regulator's View

Ofgem has a long standing interest in asset risk management, for exampleásurveying practices within the energy network companies in 2002.á Following the publication ofáBSI PAS 55, Ofgem is now encouraging GB Network Companies to undertake certification to PAS 55 andáis monitoring each company’s progress towards certificationáand is expecting áthat by 2008 companiesáwill be certified and report their certification status to Ofgem on an annual basis.á Ofgem has also participated in the development of the IAM assessment methodology.á The presentation will review current status and how PAS 55 implicitlyábenefits the customer.

Steve has worked as Technical Adviser for the British Energy Regulator, Ofgem, for nearly 5 years, covering asset risk management, transmission investment for renewables, security of supply, emergency planning and horizon scanning. Steve also monitors new technical/environmental developments which have featured in the Energy Review, including tidal power, carbon capture and nuclear and their network implications. Steve's career covers over 30 years energy industry experience, including UK transmission and generation plus international project development and acquisitions.
