Even today's more advanced codec’s required in the region of 8-10Mbps to do a good job of HD - and if you don't do a good job then why bother! The delivery of AV clips on bbc.co.uk for example is currently streamed at around 250 kbps reflecting the ability to reach a mass audience today. David will look at how it is possible to bridge the gulf which needs to be addressed if the promise of IPTV is to be realised.
