Pat Kidney
What is a smart economy and what are its telecommunications requirements? What needs to be done to ensure that the Irish telecommunications industry is a key enabler of our smart economy?
In this talk, Pat Kidney explores what becoming a smart economy actually means and how this could manifest itself in Ireland through the development of the smart electricity infrastructure, cloud computing applications and services, media and content initiatives, electric vehicles, connected health and other applications.
He considers the telecommunications requirements of a smart economy and examines if the Irish telecommunications infrastructure meets these requirements today. He goes on to examine the policy and market challenges which will need to be addressed if the Irish wired and wireless infrastructure is to support Ireland’s ambition to become a smart economy.
