About the presentation
As one of the presentations of the 2008 Excitement of Science Project organised by Rotary and the Royal Institution, Ken Collins covers what marine scientists do, with demonstrations of currents and salinity. With many illustrations he takes a trip around the world highlighting the science in and around the oceans and how to collect the data to interpret what is happening.
About the speaker
Senior Research Fellow, School of Ocean and Earth Science, University of Southampton, National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK Originally an analytical chemist who learnt to dive over 30 years ago, Dr Collins is still actively diving underwater projects around the world, with particular interests in artificial reef for fisheries, the Galapagos, unmanned underwater vehicles and sharks.
